Wheel alignment - Gympie, QLD

Wheel Alignments

Avoid the premature wear of tyres and improve the control and safety of your vehicle with a wheel alignment. We can extend your tyres' lifespan by using our precision alignment equipment.

Signs your vehicle needs a wheel alignment:

  • Steering pulls to the side
  • Poor handling
  • Excessive vibration

Wheel alignment and wheel balancing are often mixed up with each other, despite being very different. Our team here at Advanced Tyres will be able to assess the situation and offer the appropriate solution to your needs, so don’t worry if you’re not sure exactly what you need.

Wheel alignment is about measuring, analysing, and adjusting the steering and suspension of your vehicle to make sure the wheels are parallel to each other, and straight to the ground.

If you feel like the vehicle is pulling to one side as you drive, chances are there is a problem with wheel alignment. You may also notice things like a squeal to the tyres as you turn, as well as reduced steering control. It’s worth getting your wheel alignment checked every 10,000 miles or so.

Car wheel balancing — Gympie, QLD

Wheel Balancing

Unbalanced wheels can cause the premature wear of your tyres and make for a bumpier drive.

Signs your vehicle needs a wheel balance:

  • Steering shake
  • Vibration
  • Excessive tyre wear

Tyre and Wheel Balancing

Tyre and wheel balancing is essential for a safe, smooth ride and to maximise the life of your tyres. At Advance Tyres Queensland, we use our years of experience, as well as our understanding of how vehicles and components have changed, to offer expert tyre balancing solutions for all vehicles.

Causes of imbalance

Just 15 grams of imbalance can cause vibration during driving – precision and expertise are the keys to solving the problem. There are a couple of common causes of imbalance.

Static imbalance happens when the tyre has a heavy or light spot. This means the tyre won’t roll properly, which means the wheel will have an up and down too. It feels a bit like the car is hopping when you drive.

Dynamic imbalance is caused by uneven weight on the wheel assembly – if this is the problem, you’ll feel a side to side motion or wobble as you drive.

Our team at Advance Tyres Queensland will assess and address the problem, applying techniques like match-mounting, where manufacturers' marks are aligned to minimise imbalance. We’ll assess things like the correct type of wheel weight as well as looking for other causes like wheel to axle mounting issues or radial runout.

Tyre repair — Tyre Repairs Gympie, QLD

Tyre Repairs

Our trained tyre technicians can repair tyres with punctures smaller than 6mm. If punctures are more than 6mm, occur in the sidewall, or the tyre is worn below the wear indicator line, then it is time to replace the tyre.

Tyre repair needs to be resolved quickly – often it can happen mid-trip and you need to have a quick response. The team at Advanced Tyres will respond and repair or replace as quickly as possible, so you’re back on the road in no time.

5 steps to tyre repair

  1. Remove the damaged tyre
  2. Assess the damage
  3. Inspect the tyre – we’ll look at internal aspects as well as tread and damage to the tyre wall itself – all with exacting adherence to Australian Standards.
  4. If possible, we repair the puncture. If repair isn’t possible, we’ll replace the tyre.
  5. Finally, we fit and balance your new tyre, so you can drive on in confidence and safety.
